US CALLS FOR FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION AND DEMOCRACY IN PAKISTAN: AMBASSADOR BLOME

American Ambassador to Pakistan, Donald Blome, emphasized the US’s commitment to promoting freedom of expression and democracy in Pakistan.

He noted that relations between Pakistan and the US are improving, with collaborative efforts addressing challenges such as climate change and security.

A special ceremony was held at the American Consulate in Lahore to mark American Independence Day, also known as the Fourth of July. Attendees included Ambassador Blome, Consul General Lahore Kirsten K. Hawkins, and Strategic Communication Specialist Rida Rashid.

The event saw a diverse gathering of politicians, religious scholars, journalists, lawyers, and various other dignitaries.

Speaking at the American Independence Day ceremony held at the residence of the American Consul General in Lahore, US Ambassador Donald Blome said that Pakistan-US relations are on the way to improvement. US companies are providing job opportunities to Pakistanis. America is working with Pakistan on issues like climate change and security situation.

Donald Blome said that the US is promoting various projects in Pakistan and especially in Punjab. We want strong relations between Pakistan and America. Actions are being taken to solve various issues including green agriculture, security between Pakistan and America. We are also taking steps on health, education and women’s rights together.

Donald Blome said that civil society has a key role in any democracy. The civil society also play a key role in protecting the rights of women and the environment.
