Multan, Licensees protest over lack of arrangements for Muharram
The licensees of the Central Imambargahs of Multan during a joint press conference have stated categorically and clearly that the month of Muharram is a religious event.
On the arrival of which all the facilities including security at the official level on the mourning processions routes are fully supported by the district administration, municipal corporation and other relevant departments.
But the attitude of the divisional and district administration is very inappropriate instead of cooperating with the licensees. We totally reject the development budget provided.
Because these tenders are serious mockery with the licensees which is not acceptable in any case.
No funds have been allocated in these tenders for the repair of the route procession of the ancient Imambargahs of the British era.
However, with the development funds that have been kept, even two bulbs cannot be installed in one street.
In this regard, when we contacted the district administration, they got the same answer that they do not have funds. Chief Minister Punjab should immediately take notice of the serious situation.
If development works on our route processions are not completed by 1st of Muharram, the mourning processions will be stopped on the procession routes.
As a protest, all the funeral processions will be started at squares instead of Imambargahs.
The problems faced by the licensees are resolved in every government term.
But this year the stubbornness of the district administration instead of solving the problems is a sad act.
A few days are left for the arrival of the month of Muharram, but the district administration has not even inspected the routes of the mourning processions.
