General Raheel Sharif says security threats are multifaceted
Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif in a speech during his visit to Command and Staff College Quetta on Thursday emphasised the complex and ever-changing nature of threats to national security.
According to a report on Radio Pakistan, the COAS told his audience that security threats are complex, multidimensional and hybrid in character, rendering traditional response mechanisms irrelevant.
Wars are not fought by the army alone, he said, adding that the whole nation’s efforts are necessary in order to be successful.
Gen Raheel said that only a secure Pakistan can be a prosperous Pakistan, and that the country’s efforts in the fight against terrorism and extremism will impact future generations.
The COAS said Operation Zarb-i-Azb is a strike against terrorism in urban centres.
