Thousands attending 40th Day mourning congregation for Shikarpur martyrs
Tens of thousands of Shia Muslims and allied Sunnis are attending the chehlum or 40th Day of mourning for great Shia martyrs whom martyrdom embraced during Friday prayers suicide bombing by Deobandis in Karbala Moalla Mosque and Imam Bargah in Lakhi Dar of Shikarpur.
Chehlum or 40th Day Mourning is being held at Lakhi Dar Ghanta Ghar Chowk. Mourners began gathering since Friday while caravans from all over Sindh and religious scholars from other parts of Pakistan began travelling to Shikarpur since Thursday night.
The Committee of Heirs of Shikarpur’s Martyrs is led by Allama Maqsood Ali Domki who hails from leading Shia party Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen and his party’s central officials Allama Amin Shaheedi and Allama Hassan Zafar Naqvi and Sindh chapter’s head Allama Mukhtar Imami represented their MWM at the chehlum. Allama Irshad Hussain Naqvi led Friday prayers at the venue. Maulana Abdul Majid Behishti of Shia Ulema Council is member of the heirs of the martyrs committee and he was also among the hosts.
Senior religious scholar Allama Haider Ali Javadi, officials from ISO, Asgharia said Shia religious scholars have spoken at the mourning congregation of chehlum. Young children of the martyrs also spoke and vowed to continue the sacred mission of infallible Imam Hussain (AS) to defend Islam and oppreseed Ummah.
