MWM’s countrywide protest against arrest warrant of Allama Nasir Abbas Jafri

khi protestHundreds of thousands of supporters of Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen thronged main roads in all over Pakistan to protest against the warrant for arrest of MWM’s chief Allama Raja Nasir Abbas Jafri.

The sits-in and rallies were staged in many parts of Gilgit-Baltistan, provincial headquarters of five provinces and other cities and towns.

The angry protestors surrounded Chief Minister House in Skardu. They gave ultimatum to the DCO Skardu to withdraw the arrest warrant, expulsion and ban on entry forthwith.

The demonstrators said that government had ordered that Allama Jafri should leave Gilgit Baltistan province within three days but they want him to stay there as long as he wished.

It is also relevant to mention here that an attempt was made to arrest Allama Nasir Abbas Jafri but people foiled that bid.

The Gilgit-Baltistan authorities tried to hold a meeting with Allama Jafri on Wednesday night but he refused saying that no contact in the darkness of night would be made. He advised them to meet him in broad daylight.

Latest reports on Thursday noon say that Allama Raja Nasir Abbas Jafri’s caravan has reached Yadgar-e-Shohda Chowk in Skardu. More than 500 cars and 200 bikes and thousands of Ulema and youth are part of his caravan.

Rallies and sits-in were staged in Karachi’s areas of Malir and Incholi. They blocked main roads and streets and raised slogans against the government.

Another rally was held in Latifabad, Hyderabad. The protest was also registered in other towns of Sindh province.

In Lahore, the demonstrators protested outside Lahore Press Club. Similar reports were received from Khyber Pukhtoonkhwa and Balochistan provinces.
