Karachi police chief presented a target killer who, he said, assassinated renowned Shia scholar and poet Professor Sibt-e-Jafar and Shia-allied Sunni scholar Dr. Shakeel Auj, the dean of the Islamic Learning department of University of Karachi.

At a press media briefing on Wednesday, AIG Karachi Police Ghulam Qadir Thebo quoted the target killer namely Mansoor as saying that he hailed from Muttahida Qaumi Movement.

Shiite News had repeatedly reported in the past that Deobandi takfiris have infiltrated the MQM due to some pro-takfiri elements within the Altaf Hussain’s MQM and they were perpetrating genocide against Shia Muslims in the MQM’s strongholds such as district central and district East and Korangi. Some pro-takfiris had held regular meetings with banned ASWJ/Sipah-e-Sahaba’s leaders, some addressed their gatherings and some inaugurated their seminaries.

The Karachi Police Chief further said that Mansoor had been carrying out targeted killings since 1993. He was working as a ward boy in a government hospital, police official said. The AIG further disclosed that a five-member group was found involved in several incidents of targeted killings in the metropolitan city.

Clarifying his controversial statement on groupings within a political party, he said that his statement was presented out of context. He, however, asserted that criminal elements were affiliated with political parties. It has vindicated the position of the Shiite News that political takfiris also exist alongside religious or sectarian takfiris.
