Shiite News: On the occasion of 6th July “Yom-e-Fiqha-e-Jafferia” the head of Shia Ulema Council (SUC), Allama Sajid Naqvi said in his message that it was a tradition in Pakistan of every new ruler came with new slogan, Zia-ul-Haq was remembered with his self-determine Islamization, Musharaf brought a slogan of Enlightened Moderation and present government introduced the term of State of Madina. Whenever, social grass roots were watered with political pot, public expressed their concerns, especially, in dictatorship of Zia-ul-Haq, every class of the society became confused because they were expecting a certain brand of Islam to be imposed and such concerns were found a path to destination thanked to Allama Sheikh Mohsin Ali Najafi who staged a dignified, civilized and lawful protest against the than dictator.
He further said that the protest of 6th July 1980 was continuation of peaceful Public Congregation held on 12th and 13th April 1979 by the struggle of our late leaders Allama Syed Safder Hussain Najafi and Allama Mufti Jaffer Hussain but unfortunately some ill brains tried to link this indigenous struggle of Shia Community in Pakistan with the Islamic Revolution of Iran but it was absolutely a wrong thinking. Said protest was actually an endeavor to make clear to the new rulers that the protesters wanted to assure a justice system free form any types of extremism, sectarianism, bias and school brand in the light of researches conducted by Muslim Scholars, Researchers, Mujtahideen and Fuqha which could be an example for the contemporary world.
He added that after the said convention a high level committed under the leadership of Allama Mufti Jaffer Hussain (late) met with General Zia-ul-Haq in which an agreement was made and in the result of said agreement in September 1980 an amendment was made in Article 227 of the Constitution of Pakistan with an additional explanation following that Zakat Ordinance was issued.
