The boy further said in his statement that Qari Shaukat raped me in his room and threatened me to kill if I told anyone about it, I would kill you. Meanwhile, I returned to my room and fell asleep while weeping and sobbing. When I woke up in the morning for prayers, Qari Shaukat again told me that it was fun at night and if you told anyone anything about this incident, you would die.
The boy said that after hearing this from the wicked Qari, I ran away from the masjid as the study session off next day and reach at my house where I told the whole story to my father. When he went to the police station with me and lodged a report of the incident on which the police arrested the accused Qari and registered a case against him. Earlier, a video of Mufti Aziz-ur-Rehman’s sexual misconduct with a student was also found in a madrassa in Lahore.
Parents are also worried on such incidents and losing trust on religious institutions. Reacting to such incidents, the parents expressed their distrust in the Qaris, Muftis and they also have reservations to send children to mosques or madrassas for studies. They said, the police must crackdown against those Qaris and Muftis who are involved in such heinous incidents. If these black sheep do not punish, the day is not far when we will prefer to give religious education at home instead of sending our children to madrassas.
