Shiite News: Efforts for electoral alliance between Islami Tahreek Pakistan and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf intensified, to include Islami Tahreek Pakistan in Gilgit-Baltistan government by forming electoral alliance with PTI in Nagar by-election. Sources told Islam Times that important meetings of both the parties were held in Islamabad and Gilgit in the context of possible electoral alliance in the Nagar by-election, however, no final result has come out yet regarding the alliance.

Sources said, a meeting was recently held between the central leaders of PTI and Islamic Movement in Islamabad while another meeting was held between the Chief Minister and the provincial leaders of ITP in Gilgit. In these meetings, the PTI asked support of the ITP in Nagar by-election and in return ruling party offered an advisor in the provincial cabinet or a member of the council would be taken by the Islami Tahreek Pakistan.

ITP leaders replied that they were ready to support the PTI in the Nagar by-election but could not guarantee victory. The PTI wants the ITP to guarantee the success of the PTI candidate in the Nagar by-election. According to sources, ITP leaders have reservations about a possible PTI candidate in Nagar.
According to their views, position is that the vote bank of a potential candidate of PTI is almost non-existent, even if the Islami Tahreek Pakistan supports him, chances of his victory are still disappeared. On the other hand, last week, the Election Commission had issued a notification for the deployment of ROs in Nagar ahead of the election schedule, to which political circles had expressed surprise and reservations. The Election Commission has not yet released the schedule for the by-elections.

Sources said that the schedule was to be announced the day after the deployment of ROs, however, the announcement of the election schedule was postponed due to pressure from the PTI. The PTI is looking for a strong candidate in Nagar and that is why the schedule has been postponed.

It may be recalled that PPP provincial president Amjad Hussain Advocate had won the general election from Nagar constituency. Amjad Advocate was successful from both Gilgit and Nagar constituencies simultaneously. Amjad Hussain later vacated the Nagar seat. In Nagar constituency, PPP candidate Javed Hussain is considered the strongest candidate. Many people, including Javed Hussain, were disqualified in the general election for defaulting on the National Bank, in which Muhammad Baqir was also included, who is a candidate for the Islami Tahreek Pakistan. But, they have become eligible for election after the court decision made in April.

Javed Hussain is the strongest possible PPP candidate in Nagar constituency, who is competing with the Islami Tahreek Pakistan and the Tehreek-e-Insaf Pakistan. It may be recalled that during the Gilgit-Baltistan general elections, the electoral alliance between the PTI and the Islamic Movement could not be formed at the last minute due to differences. The Islamic Movement did not win a seat in the GB general election.
