Biden administration of US prefers India and Emirates to Pakistan regarding its agenda on climate crisis.

For the President Joe Biden-led US administration, Pakistan has no value because the US climate envoy John Kerry is visiting Indian, UAE and Bangladesh during Asian tour.

Former US president Donald Trump had withdrawn from the international accord on climate.

Now, the Kerry has launched an effort to narrow differences on climate change goals to slow global warming.

Ludicrously, Kerry is not visiting Pakistan for talks with the leadership of Pakistan, one of the most vulnerable countries in the world to climate change.

The US President Joe Biden has called climate summit later this month (April 22-23) for which he has invited 40 world leaders.

Ironically, the US has invited India and Bangladesh but not Pakistan although the Washington DC also invited China.

Meanwhile, according to DAWN, Pakistan’s exclusion from the invitation list for the summit had raised eyebrows.

It reported several analysts questioning the move given the country’s vulnerability to global warming and Prime Minister Imran Khan’s focus on the environment front.

However, many others perceived it as a snub for the country.

While reacting to Pakistan’s exclusion from Kerry’s planned Asia trip, Michael Kugelman, a scholar of South Asian affairs at the Woodrow Wilson Centre, said: ouch!
