Shiitenews Stop-MQMMQM activists attacked Shia Muslims during funeral procession of martyr Mirza Sarfaraz in old Rizvia Society on Tuesday.
Namaz-e-janaza of the martyr Mirza Sarfaraz of Orangi Town was held at Shah-e-Karbala Imam Bargah Rizvia Society. When funeral procession started after namaz-e-janaza, MQM activists tried to politicize the procession. Shia youths objected and tried to prevent them from giving the procession a political colour.
The eye-witnesses said that MQM’s activists tried to cover up the coffin with MQM’s flag. They said that Mirza Sarfaraz was MQM’s member. Shia Muslims made it clear that normally the dead people’s coffin is not covered with any party flag. Said coffin was covered with a chador inscribed with Quran’s verses.
The MQM activists belonging to Gulbahar Sector attacked them and tried to hijack the funeral procession. Tension prevailed in the area.
Shia organisations have condemned the attack on funeral procession and demanded that the political parties should respect the aspirations of Shia youths. They demanded that sanctity of the funeral must be observed.
Shia religious scholars and organisations have recalled that MQM chief Altaf Hussain claims he believes in tolerance and Shia-Sunni alliance. They asked Altaf Hussain to rein in deo-bandi wahhabi elements within his party who had hijacked his party against Shia Muslims.
They said that deo-bandi wahhabi elements had occupied MQM in many areas and they were trying to field MQM against Shia Muslims.
They warned that such violation of sanctity of funerals had provoked Shia Muslims all over the country. They said that Shia Muslims could register protest in all over Pakistan against the MQM if Altaf Hussain of the MQM doesn’t take action against all those activists who tried to politicize the funeral procession.
It is also relevant to add here that one such attempt was also aborted in Incholi Federal B Area.
