Martyrdom anniversary of Imam Ali Zain al-Abedeen being observed across the world

Shia Muslims began commemorating the martyrdom anniversary of 4th infallible Imam Ali Zain-al-Abedeen (AS) across the world including Pakistan on Moharram 25. The 4th infallible leader of Islam is also known as Imam Sajjad (AS).

 

Mourning congregations were held around the world mainly in Pakistan, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Bahrain, Yemen and in other Arab and Muslim countries. The mourners also brought out processions to mourn the anniversary of Imam Ali ibn-al-Hussain (AS)’s assassination on the order of Umayyad despot Hisham son of Abdul Malik.

Noha khwan recited nohas and the azadars (mourners) beat their chest raising slogans of Ya Hussain (AS). Speakers and noha khwans highlighted the key points of the holy life of the infallible Imam Sajjad (AS) in sermons and poetry.

Clad in black suits, the azadars were seen grieved. The mourning congregations and processions began at night of Moharram 24 and would continue till tonight.
