They hold azadari (sacred mourning) during Moharram and Safar with special focus on Ashura and Arbaeen (Chehlum).

But Punjab police have launched a crackdown on Shia Muslim azadars (mourners). They have registered cases and arrested many hosts and organizers of such mourning congregations.

For instance, district Rawalpindi police booked organizers of azadari which held at Shia Marty Mohsin Raza Chaudhry’s Dhamyal Camp residence.

Police also booked Raja Hameed Hasnain for azadari in Dhok Kashmirian and also handcuffed and arrested him.

The cops also booked and arrested Syed Nazir Hussain Shah for Khanabad Wah Cantt.

Besides, Pindi’s Waris Khan police arrested manager of Nagar House azadari (mourning).

In all cases, police misbehaved, harassed and forced them to sign desired statement on oath.

Shia Muslims complaint that on the one hand, Saudis-allied hatemongering cleric and supporters of outlawed terror outfit ASWJ (Sipah Sahaba-Lashkar-e-Jhangvi) continue to perpetrate pogrom against Shia Muslims in Pakistan.

And on the other hand, police also violate Shia Muslim mourners their fundamental rights on lame excuses.
