Minister asks Islamic scholars to work for unity of nation as he addressed a conference of unity of Ummah.

They and Minister for Religious Affairs, Noor-ul-Haq Qadri agreed on the important role which Ulma or religious scholars need to play to forge unity among the people.

However, Qadri said that elements, who want to create anarchy, should not be allowed to exploit our differences.

The Minister said people of Pakistan always remained successful in defeating conspiracies against the country.

Notably, Islamic scholars have cooperated with the government on various issues. They cooperated in ensuring implementation of SOPs during religious gatherings and rituals.

Recently, President of Pakistan had hosted them at Aiwan-e-Sadr to discuss SOPs regarding Moharram.

They agreed on safety measures at the meeting where prominent ulema also attended.

Minister for Religious Affairs Pir Nurul Haq Qadri, Interior Minister Brig (retd) Aijaz Shah, Governor Punjab Chaudhry Sarwar, Allama Raja Nasir Abbas Jafari, Allama Arif Wahidi, Dr Ghazanfar Mehdi, Allama Qamar Haider Zaidi, Raja Basharat Imami, and Allama Sajjad Naqvi attended the meeting.

Governors from other provinces, President Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Sardar Masood Khan, Allama Afzal Haidri and Allama Hussain Akbar from Punjab, Allama Shahanshah Naqvi, Allama Syed Ali Iqrar Naqvi and Allama Furqan Haider from Sindh, Allama Abid Shakiri and Allama Irshad Khalili from KP, Allama Syed Hashim Mosvi and Allama Sheikh Juma Asadi from Balochistan, and Mufti Kifayat Hussain Naqvi from the AJK participated through video link.

President Alvi lauded the religious scholars for extending cooperation during the holy month of Ramazan and Eid-ul-Fitr to contain the spread of COVID-19 and expected similar cooperation again.
