COAS tells ambassador Pakistan values its brotherly relations with Iraq.

According to ISPR, Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq, Hamid Abbas Lafta called on Chief of the Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa in Rawalpindi.

The meeting held at the Pakistan army’s General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi.

During the meeting, matters of mutual interest including regional security issues and COVID-19 came under discussion.

Notably the COAS said that Pakistan values its brotherly relations with Iraq.

Furthermore, Pakistan Army chief also offered all possible assistance in development and security related fields.

The visiting dignitary appreciated Pakistan’s continuous efforts for peace and stability in the region.

Hundreds of thousands of Pakistanis regularly visit Iraq on Ashura and Arbaeen (Chehlum) pilgrimages.

They go to pilgrimages of sacred shrines of Imam Ali, Imam Hussain and his companions, Imam Moosa Kazim, Imam Mohammad Taqi, Imam Ali Naqi and Imam Hassan Askari. Muslims adore and revere them as Ahle Bayt of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).

Moreover, they also go to the shrines of Hazrat Salman Farsi and other companions of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).

Pakistan and Iraq’s civilian and military leaders have also expressed desire to expand and strengthen bilateral ties.
