Pakistan mourns Martyrs of Karbala as global azadari witnessed on Ashura

Pakistani Shia Muslims commemorated the Martyrs of Karbala on Ashura, 10th day of Moharram. Mourning processions were taken out in every noon and corner of Pakistan to pay homage to Imam Hussain, grandson of the last apostle and Prophet of God who was the leader of Martyrs of Karbala. Pakistan was part of the entire world that witnessed global azadari on Tuesday.

Beating chest raising slogans of Ya Hussain (AS), azadar or mourners observed Ashura in all the big and small cities and towns of the country and almost all mourning processions culminated peacefully on Tuesday evening with the exception of a few violent incidents.

Mourning processions also included the groups of bearers of Alam (Flag attributed to Hazrat Abbas Alamdar) and Zuljinnah, the horse to portray the battle of Karbala in which horse of Imam Hussain (AS) remained loyal till breathing last. Huge mourning rallies were staged in Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, Quetta, Gilgit-Baltistan, Parachinar, Thatta, Badin, Hyderabad, Jamshoro, Tando Mohammad Khan, Tando Allah Yar, Bhit Shah Mirpurkhas, Sanghar, Tharparkar, Nawabshah, Dadu, Naushero Feroze, Khairpur, Larkana, Kashmore, Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Sukkur, Ghotki, Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalpur, Bahawl Nagar, Sahiwal, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajan Pur, Kot Addu, Multan, Mianwali, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Shor Kot, Khanewal, Chiniot, Faisalabad, Lahore, Sheikhu Pura, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Wazirabad, Hafizabad, Lala Moosa, Sargodha, Bhalwal, Jehlum, Chakwal, Rawalpindi, Taxila, Attock, Sialkot, Narowal, Murree, and other parts of the country. They passed through their traditional routes and culminated peacefully at their designated points.

Earlier, the participants of the processions performed Zuhrain prayers on the roads.

The Ulema leading the processions recounted the Karbala tragedy and highlighted the importance of the event, having a unique status due to supreme sacrifices rendered for the cause of humanity and Islam by the Great Martyrs of Karbala who were led by Imam Hussain (AS).

Special programmes were aired on TV and radio transmissions in relevance to the Karbala event while newspapers published special edition to shed light on its significance of the Ashura.
