Govt urged to ensure immediate release of Shia missing persons as the families of victims of enforced disappearance reiterated this demand on Sunday.

Joint Action Committee for Shia Missing Persons and the affected families addressed a press conference at Karachi Press Club.

Allama Abbas Haider Abedi, MWM’s Allama Mubashir Hassan and ISO Pakistan’s Ali Owais and the relatives of missing Shias expressed their views.

They said the authorities concerned had released many detainees due to Coronavirus pandemic challenge.

But, they lamented, the authorities had not released Shia Missing Persons even on Eid.

Furthermore, they recalled that they has been asking the authorities concerned to produce these detainees in the court of law if they have any formal charge against them.

Otherwise, they reiterated their demand to hand over them to their families immediately.

They said some had undergone enforced disappearance ten years ago and some have been languishing in undeclared detention for one to four years.

Joint action committee officials and missing persons relatives warned that the government should not push them to sit-in protest.

They asked the government to end this lawlessness in the country and ensure rule of law through immediate end to enforced disappearance aforesaid Shia Muslims.
