Muharram moon sighted, Ashura on Nov 4
The moon of Muharram ul Haram has been sighted in the country and the Ashura will fall on Tuesday, November 4, Express News reported on Saturday evening.
The moon sighting marks the beginning of a new Islamic year, which starts from October 26.
Muslims and in particular Shia Muslims observe Moharram and Safar as months of azadari, sacred mourning for martyrs of Karbala and their leader Imam Hussain (AS). Shia scholars deliver special sermons during ashra-e-majalis-e-azadari in all over the world.
Special security measures have been taken with regard to the activities that take place during the holy month and contingents of police have been deployed in sensitive cities.
