Allama Baqir Zaidi warns sit in at CM House if Shia mourners not released.
Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) Sindh chapter secretary general Allama Baqir Abbas Zaidi said this in a statement on Friday.
Allama Baqir Zaidi warns
He condemned the arrests of and cases against azadars for their participation in the symbolic azadari in Karachi and Shikarpur.
He lamented that Sindh government and police victimized Shia mourners despite the fact that the latter observed the government’s SOPs regarding religious gatherings.
MWM leader condemned the arrests and fake cases and demanded withdrawal of cases and release of the detained azadars immediately.
Selected people had participated in symbolic mourning procession.
Despite observance of SOPs in letter and spirit, police arrested them and registered case of violation of section 144.
Karachi Policed detained them at various police stations.
Moreover, police also registered cases against them and the organisers of the mourning procession.
Earlier, 36 Shia Muslims arrested in Shikarpur for azadari on Imam Ali’s martyrdom anniversary.
Shia Muslims observe the anniversary of martyrdom of Amirul Maumineen Imam Ali (AS) commonly known as Hazrat Ali in Pakistan.
Shikarpur-based mourners brought out a mourning procession to commemorate the anniversary.
But Sindh province’s Shikarpur district police arrested 36 Shia Muslims for this act.
Government restricts such gatherings while citing precautionary measures to save people from COVId18 but police violated those measures as they impounded Shia mourners in the lock up en masse.
Police registered two fake cases against the mourners.
The detainees included MWM Shikarpur chapter Asghar Ali Sethar.
Later, MWM Sindh chapter deputy secretary general Chaudhry Azhar Hassan came to help them.
On his personal surety, police released the mourners who spent a night in police lock-up.
