40 Shia groups form alliance to attain legitimate Shia rights in Pakistan

40 Shia parties and groups have announced formation of a non-political alliance Muttahida Shia Mahaz (MSM) at Shia National Conference that was held in Lahore. Shakir Naqvi has been elected its head.

The participants condemned the Punjab government for its biased anti-Shia policies. They expressed grave concern over Shia genocide and government’s inaction against the terrorists.

They condemned the Auqaf Department of Punjab Government saying that the said department reduced the representation of Shia Muslims in the Ittehad Bain ul Muslimeen Committees and Districts Committees of Mosques. They said that Punjab government was treating Shia Muslims as second-rate citizens. They warned that they would not tolerate conspiracies to weaken or malign the Shia Muslims.

Allama Mushtaq Jafari, Allama Waqar ul Hasnain Naqvi, Syed Shakir Hussain, Syed Khurram Abbas Naqvi, Syed Pir Nobahar Shah, Al-Haj Haider Ali Mirza, Agha Zahid Hussain and other Shia notables attended the Conference.
