Shia youth donates plasma for COVID19 patient’s treatment thru antibodies.

Hematologist Dr Saqib Ansari made this announcement while talking to the media.

Shia youth donates plasma

Donor Yahya Jafari reached along with his parents for the process.

Shia youth Yahya Jafari thanked Allah Almighty for his volunteering himself to help others.

Now this Shia Muslim youth becomes the first Pakistani to donate plasma for a great humanitarian cause to serve the ailing humanity. Others must follow him.

Moreover, Dr Saqib Ansari said that that the plasma donation would help them treat Coronavirus patients through antibodies/passive immunization technique.

He said that coronavirus will become the story of past but the efforts which concerned people or donor made would be remembered.

Earlier, Punjab and Sindh had given green signal for using blood plasma therapy.

Under the technique, doctors use the blood plasma collected from the body of the recuperated patient to infuse the critically ill patients.

Because the plasma of recovered patient contains highly strong antibodies, which can dissolve the virus effectively.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s top hematologist and transplant surgeon Tahir Shamsi spoke to a private news channel on the issue.

He said that now they would devise a strategy to administer it for treatment of patients after the approval.

Under the proposed strategy, they would convince the recovered patients to donate blood plasma for other patients.

However, he made it clear that the plasma of a survivor/recovered person could be used for treatment of only one patient.

But the recovered patient may donate plasma every two weeks.

What the anti bodies mean

Antibodies, also known as immunoglobulins, are Y-shaped proteins that are produced by the immune system to help stop intruders from harming the body. When an intruder enters the body, the immune system springs into action. These invaders, which are called antigens, can be viruses, bacteria, or other chemicals.

Antibodies are produced by specialized white blood cells called B lymphocytes (or B cells). When an antigen binds to the B-cell surface, it stimulates the B cell to divide and mature into a group of identical cells called a clone.
