MWM Baltistan’s condolence meeting for victims of Al Zahra College’s Bus mishap

Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen, Baltistan chapter held a condolence meeting to rest departed souls of the victims of an accident in which four female students of Al Zahra College and 4 others including principal and staff members of the College died.

The MWM officials declared the mishap as a tragedy for entire Baltistan. They prayed to rest departed souls in eternal peace. They demanded of the Baltistan administration to ensure immediate recovery of the bodies. They said that the administration was incompetent and delinquent because she failed to ensure smooth rescue operation and security threats to rescue workers.

They demanded that security of the rescue teams should be ensured. Allama Agha Ali Rizvi said that the victims were working to get and impart education hence they were promoters of education and their deaths in accident are martyrdoms.

The victims were boarding the college bus when the bus veered off the road and fell into Indus River, some 60 kilometers south of Skardu city on Saturday. An official at Tolti police station said that the victims were identified as students Razia, Farzana, Batol, Alia, principle Shiekh Essa, teacher Yasir Hussain, accountant Ali Raza, driver Agha Ameer, and another staffer Zulfiqar.

The victims were residents of Kharmang and going to their homes to celebrate Eid, said police, adding that the accident happened at Hilalabad. Police informed that a student, Abida, and staff member, Zulfiqar, were rescued in injured condition and shifted to hospital.

When contacted, Kharmang assistant commissioner Mohammad Ibrahim confirmed the deaths and said a rescue team had been dispatched to retrieve bodies from the river. He said that it was not yet known what caused the accident.
