2 takfiri terrorists held for failed assassination attempt on anti-terror police officer

Karachi Police on Tuesday arrested two Burmese takfiris belonging to banned takfiri nasbi terrorist outfit in connection with the attack on anti-terrorist operations expert police officer (SSP) Farooq Awan. 
The arrests took place in the Manghopir area of the city and the foreigners are said to be affiliated with banned Taliban and affiliated group. According to the CID police, the car used in the attack on SSP Awan was prepared by these foreigners. They were also arrested for possession of explosive material.

On September 25, two people were killed and seven including SSP Awan injured when a vehicle packed with explosives was detonated in DHA Phase-IV. The target of the blast was the convoy of Farooq Awan, who heads the special investigative unit (SIU) in the police force.
