Nation remembers 1971 War Hero Sowar Mohammad Hussain on his martyrdom aniversary today (10th December).

Although Pakistani nation has not forgotten the dismemberment of Pakistan,they also remember those who valiantly defended motherland till last breath.

Specially, those war heroes who got Nishan-e-Haider posthomously because of their valour in that war.

Role in 1971 War

That list also includes Sowar Mohammad Hussain.

He spotted the enemy close to a minefield near the village of Harar Khurd in December 1971. On his own initiative he directed accurate fire at the enemy resulting in the destruction of sixteen enemy tanks.

Martyrdom

While directing fire from recoilless rifles, he was hit in the chest by a burst of machine-gun fire. Resultantly, he embraced martyrdom on 10 December 1971.

Born on 18 June 1949 in Dhok Pir Bakhsh (now Dhok Muhammad Husain Janjua), he was enlisted as a driver on 3 September 1966.

Although only a driver in the 20th Lancers, when war broke out in 1971 Sowar Muhammad Hussain took an active part in every battle in which his unit was engaged.

Furthermore, he remained unmindful of any danger, no mater how grave.

Nishan-e-Haider

The state of Pakistan posthumously award the highest military award Nishan-e-Haider for valiant and courageous acts against the enemy.

Notably, Pakistan’s Nishan-e-Haider remains its love and reverance for Hyder-e-Karrar Maula Ali (AS).

Since Hazrat Ali remains a symbol of valiane and valour due to his cardinal role in success of wars, he remains a role model also in wars.

Interestingly, Hazrat Ali also is a symbol of unity among Muslims. Sunni Muslims respect him as fourth ruler of Muslims governments after Prophet of Islam’s sad demise while Shia Muslims follow him as infallible Imam (leader).
