Maleeha Lodhi calls for regional reconciliation for ME peace. Notably, the outgoing Pakistani permanent representative to the United Nations said this in a debate on the situation in the Middle East.

She emphasised that Pakistan would continue to play its role for peace and stability in the region.
She referred to the Pakistan efforts to persuade Saudi Kingdom for talks with Islamic Republic of Iran to end tension.

Maleeha noted reconciliation within the region as imperative to avoid further instability at this precarious moment in history.
Furthermore, she said that regional conciliation essential for a peaceful and prosperous Middle East.
Mutual respect must for regional peace
Moreover, Pakistani’s outgoing envoy highlighted the fact that any framework for regional peace must be built on the foundation of mutual respect.
While calling upon all parties to abandon the pursuit of narrow national interests, she suggested conditional international involvement.
She elaborated that international involvement must be based on an unequivocal commitment to multilateral solutions and political processes.
Pakistan eyes Saudi Iranian FMs meeting
While talking to journalists in Islamabad, he gave a big news to them.
Particularly, his government was trying to arrange a meeting of the foreign ministers of the two countries to further ease tensions.

Although Pakistan has been trying its level best to de-escalate tension in the region. Yet, Kingdom hasn’t appreciated Pakistan’s efforts. Instead, they discredited Pakistan.
Unfortunately, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has neither honoured Pakistan Prime Minister for his shuttle diplomacy nor made any comment.
Iran remains grateful to Pakistan
However, Iran made public its reaction to Pakistan efforts.
Notably, Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Khamenei lauded Pakistan‘s sincere efforts. He also made public how regional peace can be restored.
Comparatively, Iran Foreign Minister Javad Zarif publicly remained grateful to Prime Minister of Pakistan. He tweeted: “Grateful to PM @ImranKhanPTI for his efforts toward peace in the #PersianGulf…. Reiterating #HOPE (Hormuz Peace Endeavour) I again invite colleagues in the leaderships of other regional states to join Iran in forging a blueprint for peace, security, stability & prosperity.
