Allama Arif Hussain Wahidi, secretary general of Shia Ulema Council of Pakistan, has said that reconciliatory approach was needed to diffuse the prevailing crisis in the country.

“The politics of confrontation and collision is deleterious for Pakistan. Civil disobedience and an administrative reaction to political demands may destabilize the country, so both sides show restraint,” he said in a statement.

Shia leader said that government and its opponents should sense the gravity of the situation and they should know that people suffer due to confrontational politics. He exhorted the rulers and their opponents to beware of the consequences of hardened stance.

“We are of the view that Government should accept those demands that are constitutionally legitimate. We consider that people should be given relief and there must be an immediate solution to the prevailing crisis,” he urged.
