Shia Muslims are celebrating 68th Independence of Pakistan across the country
Pakistani Shia Muslims are celebrating the 68th Independence Day of dear motherland Pakistan today (August 14).
Shia localities across Pakistan are decorated with buntings and national flag are being flutters on the rooftop of buildings. Shia students largely attended the Independence Day programs at their schools.
In Karachi, Shiites go to the mausoleum of founder of Pakistan Mohammad Ali Jinnah in Karachi and offer fateha at his grave. In Lahore, they offer fateha at the grave of Allama Iqbal.
Those who joined the Revolution March are also hoisting Pakistan’s national flag. National songs are being sung in Shia majority areas.
It is relevant to add here that Shia leaders played leading and key role in independence movement for Pakistan. Mohammad Ali Jinnah was also a Shia Muslim.
