Iraq Shia Islamic jurisprudent offers condolence for Pakistan quake victims as his representative met federal minister Noorul Haq Qadri.

Notably, Ayatollah Mohammad al-Yaqubi sent condolence message to Pakistan for loss of lives in recent earthquake.

Specially, Iraq Shia Islamic jurisprudent;s representative Shaikh Hadi Hussain called on the Minister.

Religious Affairs minister Pir Noorul Haq Qadri received Allama Hadi Hussain in his chamber at Parliament House.

Minister lauds role of Ayatollah

Moreover, he also praised Ayatollah Yaqubi for his services in the field of jurisprudence and social sector.

Furthermore, both sides agreed to work to strengthen Pakistan-Iraq relations.

Meanwhile, Hadi Hussain asked the minister to play due role in facilitation Pakistani pilgrims for Karbala pilgrimage on Arbaeen.

Pakistan Iraq relations

Also noteworthy to add that Pakistan and Iraq enjoy good relations. Even exchange of defence and security officials visits have become a regular feature.

Factually, friendly ties remain visible in defence, security, tourism, parliamentary exchanges.  The acting Defence Secretary of Iraq Lt Gen (Staff) Pilot Muhammad Salim Al Araji and Pak Army chief met in GHQ.

According to ISPR, General Zubair Mahmood Hayat, Chairman JCS Committee visited Iraq in September, 2018. There, he met Erfan Al Heial, Defence Minister, Lt-Gen. Authman Ali Farhood Al-Ghanimi, Chief of Staff, Iraqi Joint Forces.

During that visit, he also called on General Anwar Hamad Amen, Commander Iraqi Air Force.

Particularly, both sides discussed matters of bilateral interest including regional security.

The chairman also delivered talk on “Regional Security Challenges and Response”, at Defence University for Military Studies (DUFMS). Notably, the university awarded its DUFMS Medal to him.

Furthermore, he  held an interactive session with two Iraqi think tanks. They included: “Strategic Studies and Research Centre” and “Al Nahrain Centre for Strategic Planning”.

Besides, Parliamentary delegations also have exchanged visits.

Unfortunately, Iraq Arabeen visa policy for Pakistan has irked Pakistanis and they have lodged stiff protest.

Let alone Shia Muslims or their parties, even secular parties leaders have come foward to raise the issue.

Therefore, Iraq government has come under mounting pressure from Pakistanis on its visa policy. However, Iraq Shia Islamic jurisprudent’s representative also expressed concerns over it.
