Shia Muslims began mourning congregations and processions in commemoration of great Martyrs of Karbala and particularly their leader Imam Hussain.

Factually, Shia Muslims observe mourn or azadari as per their religious and cultural rituals since they revere Imam Hussain as infallible leader.

However, Imam Hussain also has non-Shia lovers and admirers who too emulate Shia Muslims in one or another way on azadari.

Due to that reason, azadari don’t remain limited to Shia Muslims, Sunnis too commemorate the Martyrs of Karbala.

Even non-Muslims beat their chest to mourn the great leader of oppressed humanity: Imam Hussain.

Followers and lovers of Imam Hussain set up sabeels to offer soft drinks and food items during Moharram.

Many hear nohas and marsias, epic poetry. Many attend Majalis. Many joins matami anjumans. So, this remains tradition across the world, let alone Pakistan.
