US envoy lauds Pakistan wholehearted support in Islamabad visit
US special envoy Zalmay Khalilzad for Afghan peace appreciated Pakistan’s wholehearted support in his meetings with civilian and military leaderships.
Most important appreciation came from him during his visit to Islamabad where he stayed two-days.
During the two-day Pakistan visit, he met Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Prime Minister Imran Khan and Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi.
Furthermore, the US envoy also expressed hope that others would follow in [the] same vein.
In this regard, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) also issued a statement.
Khalilzad-COAS meeting held in the backdrop of ongoing discussions and efforts underway to secure peace in Afghanistan.
Moreover: “Both shared the steps taken in this regard and agreed to continue working towards mutually agreed goals.”
Meanwhile, army chief assured Khalilzad that Pakistan would play its role to its fullest potential for peace in Afghanistan and the region.
Notably, Khalilzad Islamabad visit came on his way to Doha (Qatar) to resume peace talks with the Taliban there.
