Pakistanis observe 126th birth anniversary of Fatima Jinnah

Pakistani nation is observing the 126th birth anniversary of Mother of the Nation (Madar-e-Millat) Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah, sister of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah today (Wednesday).
Various political parties and women wings of many organisations are hosting conferences and seminars. There they are highlighting Fatima Jinnah’s matchless services for the sake of Pakistan.

Furthermore, the radio, TV channels and newspapers, on the other hand, highlight her services for the formation of Pakistan.
Fatima Jinnah was born on July 31, 1893 in Karachi and passed away at the age of 73 years on July 9, 1967.
Nation continues to remember her for her passionate support for civil rights and committed and devoted struggle in Pakistan Movement.

Notably, Fatima Jinnah played a vital role assisting founder of Pakistan, his brother MA Jinnah in creation of Pakistan. Death of Mohammad Ali Jinnah’s wife’s shocked saddened him in 1929.

Then, his sister Fatima Jinnah came to assist him in his political struggle and worked side by side with her brother.

Most importantly, she also rallied women of the subcontinent on one platform emboldening them. That also strengthened the struggle for achieving a separate state of Muslims easier.

Moreover, in 1947, Fatima Jinnah formed the Women’s Relief Committee, which later formed the nucleus for the All Pakistan Women s Association (APWA). She also played a significant role in the settlement of migrants from India in the new state of Pakistan.

Most importantly, Pakistanis call her Mother of the Nation for her role in the Freedom Movement.

Unfortunately, military dictator General Ayub Khan had not respected the ideas of Pakistan’s ideological ancestors. Hence, Fatima Jinnah returned to the political forefront to contest the 1964 elections at the age of 71 against Ayub.
