Assistant Professor at School of Politics and International Relations (SPIR) Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad Muhammad Mujeeb Afzal has asserted that Americans at the moment don’t like to have confrontation with Iran.
Speaking at an event under the aegis of IPI, he cited that the US had already lost two wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Most importantly, he noted US defeats gave space to China’s rise. And if the US begins another conflict in the region it would give more space to China’s peaceful rise which they can’t afford.

Mujeeb apprehended continued environment of distrust in Washington vis-à-vis Pakistan while ensuring Afghan ceasefire would be difficult for Islamabad.

Furthermore, he called PM Imran Khan’s US visit a good event, but he noted the visit had no much strategic importance in it.

Meanwhile, he reiterated that even after the visit environment of suspicion and distrust in the US towards Pakistan to continue.
