Attacking Shiism in Egypt, AlArabiya Wahhabi Network’s New Approach

14 October, 2013 14:23

alarbiyaThe Wahhabi Network Al-Arabiya in its latest anti-Shia move has invited individuals it described as representatives of Egypt’s Shias.

In a program titled “Egyptian Shias and Crisis of Identity” broadcast as part of a series named “Special Mission”, the network tried to portray the Shias of Egypt as a group that follow foreign countries and disobey laws, Al-Alam network reported.

Those invited to the program, including Muhammad Al-Darini, have no resemblance to Shia figures or scholars. Moreover, in countries where there are Shia minorities, there is no one under the title of spokesman for Shias.

But what makes the program more surprising is the ridiculous attempts to create a link between Egyptian Salafist ideology and the ideology of Mahdism.

Al-Arabiya’s anti-Shia approaches are nothing new but the network’s turning to simplistic approaches like the one seen in the “Special Mission” series will only reveal the network’s hidden agenda.
