Top Kuwaiti Shia leader Invites Sunni Communities in Ashura Commemoration

kuwaiti clericA prominent Kuwaiti Shia cleric demanded both Sunni and Shia communities to participate in mourning ceremonies for Muharram and demanded Ashura to be announced as a national holiday in this country.

Seyyed Mohammad Bagher al-Mohri demands appointment of Ashura as a holiday and called Sunni community to participate in the ceremonies held for the mourning month of Muharram. 

He issued a statement inviting the Sunni community in this country to participate in mourning ceremonies to be held for the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS).

He called the current Muharram Month as the month of sacrifice because in this month Ahlul Bayt (AS), the household of the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), sacrificed their companions and family members for promotion of Islam. 

He reiterated the importance of maintaining the sanctity of the month of Muharram by maintaining the regulations set for mourning ceremonies. 

Kuwaiti religious figure addressed Shia scholars and said, “Muslim scholars have to underscore national unity and Islamic fraternity so that they promote the path of Imam Hussein (AS), third Shia Imam and grandson of the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).
