Bashar al Assad decrees general amnesty, reduces sentences

Syrian President Bashar al Assad granted amnesty and reduced sentences for all crimes committed before Sunday, while also offering amnesty to military deserters who turn themselves in within the next few months.
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad on Sunday issued Legislative Decree No. 6 for the year 2020 granting a general amnesty for crimes committed before March 22, 2020.
The decree expanded the range of amnesty for some crimes that were not covered in previous decrees.
Similar amnesties have been issued on several occasions, most recently in September of last year.
