Shortly after midnight on Thursday, an Israeli warplane launched a violent airstrike on Beirut’s southern suburbs, part of a continued wave of raids striking densely populated areas. The attack caused further destruction and added to the already mounting casualty toll.
Medical teams and emergency services are reportedly struggling to cope with the destruction as hospitals face increasing pressure amid the ongoing bombardment.
The bombings followed earlier announcements of an immediate ceasefire agreement that was expected to include Lebanon. However, the Israeli occupation violated the ceasfire and continued its attacks, carrying out widespread bombings that amount to massacres against civilians.
The aggression targeted homes, buildings, and infrastructure across multiple regions, contributing to a sharp rise in casualties and widespread destruction. The continued bombardment reflects a clear violation of ceasefire efforts and underscores a deliberate escalation policy.
Hezbollah condemns attacks, vows response
Hezbollah condemned the Israeli massacres, stressing that the blood of the victims “will not be in vain.”
“With its blind hatred, habitual criminality, and boundless brutality, now an entrenched characteristic of its nature, the Israeli enemy today carried out a series of roaming massacres against safe civilian populations,” the statement stressed.
The resistance affirmed that these crimes will not go unanswered, reiterating its commitment to defending Lebanon and confronting ongoing aggression.
Lebanese political voices have warned against attempts to restrict the role of the resistance, stressing that preventing it from defending the country would violate constitutional principles.
MP Jradi to Al Mayadeen: We will remain the last stronghold of humanity
Lebanese MP Elias Jradi told Al Mayadeen on Wednesday that “the Lebanese government preventing the people from defending themselves and resisting the enemy is a crime against humanity.”
Jradi held the “world silent on the crimes of the enemy of humanity” responsible for “Israel’s” aggression against Lebanon, expressing surprise at the “suspicious official Lebanese silence” in the face of the brutality of the attacks and the government’s prevention of the people from resisting the enemy.
“We will hold the current authority accountable for preventing resistance against the enemy,” he said, adding that “the Lebanese government violated the constitution by preventing resistance against the enemy and occupier.”
Regarding official statements condemning the Israeli attacks, the Lebanese MP described them as “absolutely insufficient”, emphasizing that “the Lebanese society is united against the aggression carried out by the enemy of humanity.
“We will remain the last stronghold of humanity, and we will prevail over this evil,” he concluded.
Calls are growing for legal action in response to internal pressures that seek to weaken Lebanon’s defensive capabilities amid ongoing Israeli attacks. The continued Israeli aggression, coupled with the mounting toll of martyrs, underscores a rapidly deteriorating situation in Lebanon.
3 key clauses of ceasefire breached before talks even began: Ghalibaf
Iran’s Parliament Speaker, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, strongly criticized the violations of the Islamic Republic’s 10-point proposal, also known as the Agreed Framework, even before negotiations had formally begun.
Ghalibaf emphasized the historical mistrust Tehran holds toward the United States, noting that it “stems from its repeated violations of all forms of commitments, a pattern that has regrettably been repeated once again.”
He highlighted that the proposal, which the US president has called a “workable basis on which to negotiate,” has already been breached in three significant areas:
- Ceasefire in Lebanon – The first clause of the proposal, which Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan also explicitly referenced, calls for “an immediate ceasefire everywhere, including Lebanon and other regions, effective immediately.” Ghalibaf noted this commitment has not been honored.
- Violation of Iranian Airspace – An intruding drone entered Iranian airspace and was subsequently destroyed in Lar, Fars Province, in direct contravention of the clause prohibiting such violations.
- Right to Nuclear Enrichment – Iran’s entitlement to enrichment, included in the sixth clause of the framework, has been denied.
‘Any attack on Hezbollah is an attack on Iran’: IRGC chief
Additionally, the IRGC condemned the brutal Israeli aggression on Lebanon and asserted that “Israel” is targeting civilians, including women and children, and warned of an impending response.
The statement said, “We issue a severe warning to America, the violator of agreements, and its Israeli executioner partner: if the attacks on dear Lebanon do not stop immediately, we will fulfill our duty and deliver a response that will make the evil aggressors in the region regret their actions.”
In the same context, Brigadier General Majid Mousavi, commander of the IRGC’s Aerospace Force, said, “Any attack on the proud Hezbollah is an attack on Iran.” He also said that the battlefield is currently preparing for “a crushing response to the monstrous crimes of the Israeli entity.”
