Resistance weapons will neither be removed nor frozen: Hezbollah MP

Lebanon’s resilience and the strength of its resistance remain unshaken amid regional tensions and domestic challenges, Hezbollah MP Ihab Hamadeh emphasized on Tuesday.

In an interview for Al Mayadeen, Hamadeh clarified that a meeting had been requested, “not in the context of presenting an initiative, a working paper, or an Egyptian proposal, but rather as an inquiry or a casual discussion.” He emphasized that Hezbollah’s positions are clearly outlined in the speeches of its leadership, particularly those of Deputy Secretary-General Sheikh Naim Qassem, who addresses each issue in detail.

He stressed to Al Mayadeen that any formal initiative would come through the Lebanese state, representing all political components, noting that mechanisms of communication with Hezbollah remain open.

“This does not mean closing the door in the face of anyone, especially Arab states,” Hamadeh told Al Mayadeen, adding that Hezbollah welcomes any initiative that respects national sovereignty and established rights, provided that it is serious and credible.

Regarding a reported invitation for Hezbollah to visit Cairo, Hamadeh stated, “I believe there was such an invitation, similar to that extended to the Palestinian Resistance.”

Power, not diplomacy behind ceasefire in Lebanon
On the topic of the ceasefire agreement in Lebanon, Hamadeh asserted that it was achieved not through diplomatic efforts but based on the balance of power imposed by the People of Might battle.

Speaking to Al Mayadeen, he warned that if “Israel” considered invading Lebanon and reaching Beirut an easy feat, it would not have hesitated to do so.

“We are always confident in our victory, and no one can overcome this nation,” he said, adding, “We are the people of the land and the people of right, and we shall prevail.” He further stressed that “the Resistance’s weapons will neither be removed nor frozen, and the ceasefire agreement will be reviewed within a defensive strategy framework.”

Hamadeh criticized the United States for reneging on its commitments, noting that the entire country remains exposed to threats and emphasizing that Hezbollah has historically mastered self-preservation. He described the group as a stabilizing force in Lebanon but lamented that some domestic actors have shifted from opposition to outright hostility toward Hezbollah.

Concerning Lebanese Foreign Minister Youssef Rajji, Hamadeh called on the state to put an end to his statements, labeling them a “mockery”.

“It is disgraceful that Lebanon’s historical legacy is represented by a figure of this caliber in the foreign ministry,” he said, arguing that Rajji does not represent Lebanon or even half of its citizens, acting instead with animosity that disregards their affiliations, questioning, “Is this in Lebanon’s interest?”
