3 Days International Quranic Festival held in Wasit Province

quran confrinceThe second international Quranic festival titled “Saeed Ibn Jubayr” was concluded on Friday in the Iraqi province of Wasit.

Iran, along with 22 other countries including Kuwait, Bahrain, Sudan, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, Turkey, India, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Kenya, Senegal, Indonesia and Tanzania have representatives in the festival, Sawt Al-Iraq website reported.
The event kicked off with a Quran recitation session at the shrine of Saeed Ibn Jubayr near the city of Al-Kout. It includes various programs such as Quran competitions and scholarly forums.

According to Mahmoud Abdul Reza Talal, governor general of the province, the festival began on Wednesday and ran for three days.

He said religious and social figures and scholars from different provinces of Iraq are present at the Quranic event.

Saeed Ibn Jubayr was one of the companions of Imam Sajjad (AS) and a Quran memorizer, reciter and interpreter. Saeed was killed by Hajjaj ibn Yusuf Thaqafi, the wicked and cruel governor of Hijaz at the time.
