Former Iraqi PM Underlines Islamic Awakening’s Profound Effects
Former Iraqi prime minister, Ibrahim al-Jafari, admired the Islamic Awakening movement for its profound effects on the Muslim nations, stressing that the movement is still in progress dynamically.
Addressing the 6th meeting of the Islamic Awakening Supreme Council in the Iranian capital on Monday, Jafari said the Islamic Awakening movement is facing a number of challenges at the present time, but also noted that “it has left profound effect” since it came into existence.
He said the Islamic Awakening movement is still “alive and dynamic” in the Muslim nations, moves steadily and determines the fate of the nations.
Jafari, who presides the ongoing meeting in Tehran, also pointed to the role of the Islamic Awakening Supreme Council in coordinating policy on dealing with the challenges in the Islamic world, and said, “The council has been able to take the necessary opportunities in Africa and Asia so far for the Islamic Awakening movements.”
The ongoing meeting in Tehran is held at the invitation of the head of the Strategic Research Center of Iran’s Expediency Council, Ali Akbar Velayati, who is also the secretary general of the Islamic Awakening Assembly.
More than 50 leading figures and influential personalities in the Islamic Awakening movement from various countries have attended the gathering.
The participants are expected to exchange views on the latest developments in the Islamic Awakening movement and the steps required to be taken.
Over the past few years, Iran has hosted several international conferences on the Islamic Awakening including “Islamic Awakening and Youth,” “Women and the Islamic Awakening” and “Muslim University Professors and Islamic Awakening”.
The Islamic Awakening movement, which started in 2011 in Tunisia, has swept into several other countries in the Middle East and North Africa including Egypt, Libya and Yemen.
