Iraq reiterates support to political solution to crisis in Syria

Iraqi Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki, reiterated support to the efforts exerted for finding a political solution to the crisis in Syria through dialogue.

During his meeting with Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs, Jeffrey Feltman, al-Maliki called on the international community and regional powers to exert pressure on various sides in Syria to sit at the negotiations table and find a solution to the crisis, a statement issued by the Iraqi cabinet said Monday.

The statement added that Feltman expressed complete agreement on the vision of al-Maliki on the situation in Syria and stressed that Iraq should take part in the international conference on Syria.
