Iraqi Sadr urges boycott of Formual 1 racing in Bahrain

saderIraqi top Shiite leader Muqtada al-Sadr on Wednesday called on “all honorable sportsmen” not to participate in the Formula 1 auto racing that is to be hosted in Bahrain because this event only sustains “injustice, killing and assault on the people”.

“I appeal to all honorable sportsmen not to take part in this racing and to back the Bahraini people in their rejection of this event by helping raise their voice against such inhumane acts,” Sadr said.

He expressed thanks to all international and humanitarian organizations that rejected this racing and sympathized with the cause of the Bahraini people.

The Iraqi leader also called on preachers delivering their sermons in the country during the Friday prayers to speak about this issue.
