Millions mourners flocking to Najaf to observe martyrdom of Hazrat Ali (as)
In commemoration of the martyrdom anniversary of Al-Imam Ali ibne Abu Talib (as), the first infallible descendant of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), hundreds of thousands of mourners have been heading to the holy city of Najaf at his holy shrine.Â
Ramadan 21, the anniversary of martyrdom of Al-Imam Ali ibne Abu Talib (as), falls this year on Monday August 22 in Iraq, and according to officials the number of mourners to Najaf will reach to millions on the day.
The government has announced holiday on Ramadan 21 marking the sad occasion in Najaf governorate and many other governorates.
Chanting and beating their chests, thousands of Iraqi Shi’ites forced cars out of their path and took over the road in Najaf however security is tightened as more than 30,000 personnel took part in security plan.
