Militants attack police office in Iraq

car_bombA car bomb attack has targeted a police intelligence office north of the Iraqi capital, leaving a man killed and more than a dozen others injured.The attack occurred at about 11:00 a.m. (0800 GMT) on Monday when an explosive-laden vehicle detonated outside the office in Baqouba, AFP quoted a security source as saying. According to the official, girls on a nearby school bus and guards of the office were  among the 20 people wounded in the incident. Prior to the bomb attack, a number of militants reportedly threw several hand grenades into the intelligence office.

Hospital officials in Baqouba confirmed receiving the body of one man and 15 wounded people, including girls.

Earlier in the day, a police officer was killed after militants armed with silenced guns opened fire on his car in northeastern Baghdad.

In the capital’s central neighborhood of al-Wahda, armed men killed a Christian woman in her house and stole some of her possessions.
