Blast in eastern Iraq,Martyres 4 Mourners
Iraqi police say that at least four Shia pilgrims (Mourners of Imam Hussain.as) have been martyred and scores of others injured in an explosion in the northern part of capital Baghdad.
The blast took place in the town of Baladruz in Diyala Province on Monday, Shiite News reported.
Earlier on Sunday, a bombing attack killed two civilians in eastern Diyala.The casualties have increased during the past days as Iraq is holding mourning ceremonies, marking the anniversary of the martyrdom of Prophet Mohammad’s grandson and the third Shia Imam — Imam Hussain (PBUH).
Every year on the tenth day of Muharram, which is known as Ashura, thousands of Muslims from all over Iraq and neighboring countries hold mourning ceremonies and many head for the holy city of Karbala, where the shrine of Imam Hussein (PBUH) is located.
