Karbala Ready to Host Imam Hussein’s (AS) Pilgrims on Ashura

imam_hussain_1The governor office of Karbala Province in Iraq announced that the holy city is ready to host the pilgrims of Imam Hussein (AS) on the day of Ashura, December 17.Amaluddin Al-Har, governor of Karbala said: “the office has provided all the facilities needed to welcome the pilgrims to attend mourning ceremonies on the day of Ashura.”

He added, however, that the province is in need of more funds to be allocated for serving the pilgrims who travel to the holy city on various religious occasions.“The fund allocated  to Karbala province is determined based on the number of the population of the province, while the holy city of Karbala hosts more than 30 million pilgrims every year,” Mr. Al-Har stressed.”Based on official statistics, the number of pilgrims who traveled to Karbala on the day of Ashura last year was estimated at about 3 million.
