ISIS Widows Being Obliged to Remarry

ISIS obliges women to remarry other militants of the group after their husbands are killed in the battles.

The IS militants’ wives are left with no other choices except remarrying when their husbands are killed in the battles or executed by IS.

The wives of the militants remarry many times and outside the traditions and the Islamic Sharia, calling it sexual jihad (jihad al-nikah).

Mariwan Naqshbandi, Head of the Communication and Media Department at the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs in Kurdistan Region, said that 500 Kurdish youths have joined IS and 19 of them have taken their wives and children with them.

The wives of those killed in the battles have been remarried to other militants frequently, Naqshbandi said.

Since the eruption of the terrorist group, IS has reportedly been running a business for trading women as sex slaves among its fighters.

Tens of thousands of female captives, including nearly 5,000 Yazidis, were taken by IS and forced into temporary marriages, with horrific stories recalled by those who could escape.
