Iraq condemns the suicide bombing that targeted a Shiite mosque in Pakistan

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned on Friday the suicide bombing that targeted a Shia mosque in Pakistan.
A statement issued by the Ministry and received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) said: “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses its strong condemnation of the suicide bombing that targeted a Shia mosque in Islamabad, in the friendly Islamic Republic of Pakistan, which resulted in a number of deaths and injuries.”
The Ministry affirmed, according to the statement, “the Republic of Iraq stands with the government and people of Pakistan in this painful time,” and expressed its “sincere condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims, wishing a speedy recovery to the injured.”
The Ministry reiterated its categorical rejection of “all forms of violence and terrorism that target places of worship and innocent people,” stressing “the importance of strengthening international cooperation to combat terrorism and eliminate its sources.
