Sheikh Hamoudi: The elections constituted an important national milestone in which Iraqis embodied their free will
The head of the Supreme Islamic Council, Sheikh Humam Hamoudi, affirmed on Saturday that the elections constituted a significant national milestone in which Iraqis demonstrated their free will and their awareness of the importance of elections in rectifying the current situation, bringing about change, and building a better future.
Sheikh Hamoudi’s media office stated in a press release received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that “Sheikh Humam Hamoudi, head of the Supreme Islamic Council, received the Iranian Ambassador to Iraq, Mohammad Kazem Al-Sadegh, who conveyed his country’s congratulations to the Iraqi people on the success of the electoral process, praising the secure environment, high level of organization, and broad participation.”
According to the statement, Sheikh Hamoudi emphasized that “the elections constituted a significant national milestone in which Iraqis demonstrated their free will and their awareness of the importance of elections in rectifying the current situation, bringing about change, and building a better future,” noting that “this will positively impact the strengthening of bilateral relations and the development of joint cooperation in a way that serves the interests of the two neighboring peoples.”
For his part, the Iranian ambassador affirmed that “the success of the elections represents an important step in strengthening political stability and consolidating the democratic path in Iraq,” noting that “the atmosphere in which the elections took place reflects the ability of the Iraqi state to manage its constitutional entitlements efficiently and responsibly.”
