Mr. Al-Hakim: The upcoming elections are necessary to move towards a phase of sustainable stability.

The head of the National Wisdom Movement, Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, stressed on Wednesday the necessity of the upcoming elections to move towards a phase of sustainable stability. He pointed out that any threat in the region would jeopardize the security and stability of its countries.
Mr. al-Hakim’s media office said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “Mr. al-Hakim received the Assistant Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Saeed Khatibzadeh, in the presence of the Iranian Ambassador to Baghdad, Muhammad Kazim Al-Sadiq.”
The statement added that “the meeting dealt with bilateral relations between Iraq and the Islamic Republic of Iran, and ways to strengthen them to serve the interests of the two friendly neighboring countries and peoples, in addition to developments in the region.”
According to the statement, Mr. al-Hakim praised “the images of cohesion during the Husseini season, represented by the Arbaeen Pilgrimage, and the subsequent commemoration of the passing of the Messenger of God (peace be upon him and his family), and the martyrdom of Imam al-Hassan al-Askari (peace be upon him).”
The statement continued, “The two sides stressed the importance of stability in the region,” noting that “any threat anywhere in it would jeopardize the security and stability of its countries.”
He added that “the two sides discussed the nature of the Iraqi reality and its state of stability,” stressing that “the upcoming elections are essential for transitioning to a phase of sustainable stability, and that they represent the foundation for a new phase in Iraq.”
