Baghdad Summit a Strategic Opportunity to Shape a Unified Arab Vision, Says PM Advisor
The Advisor to the Prime Minister for Foreign Affairs Farhad Alaaldin, stated on Friday that the upcoming Arab Summit in Baghdad represents a strategic opportunity to develop a unified vision that moves beyond temporary solutions and reinforces joint Arab action.
Alaaldin told The Iraqi News Agency-INA that “The Arab region is currently facing a series of interconnected crises including the continued Zionist aggression against Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria, alongside internal challenges, external interventions, and economic pressures related to food security, energy, and supply chains.”
He noted that the Iraqi government views Baghdad Summit as a pivotal platform for shaping a coherent Arab approach based on sustainable principles that emphasize respect for national sovereignty, support for the nation-state model, and the revitalization of economic partnerships among Arab countries.
“Iraq’s role is not limited to hosting the summit,” Alaaldin added. “It seeks to provide a space for dialogue and to take the initiative in proposing constructive solutions.”
He emphasized that the summit constitutes an important opportunity for strategic transformation in Arab relations and a forum to shape independent regional stances, particularly in the absence of fair or effective international responses—most notably with regard to the Palestinian Cause.
He concluded that the lack of an active international stance puts more responsibility on Arab countries to unite and take effective action—supporting Palestine’s right to an independent state, ending the aggression, and restoring balance in how the world deals with the regional affairs.
